Brampton starts where Chesterfield's town centre ends and runs west along Chatsworth Road. It's the part of town with the most going on outside the centre, and some of the best-value homes within walking distance of it.

The place

Chatsworth Road is the heart of it: a long high street of independent shops, cafés, pubs and takeaways. Off it run street after street of Victorian and Edwardian terraces.

To the south, Boythorpe sits beside Queen's Park, the town's big park, with its cricket ground and boating lake. To the north-west, Loundsley Green and Ashgate are quieter and more suburban.

The homes

Semis are the most common sale, then terraces and detached homes in roughly equal numbers. Chatsworth Road itself sees more sales than any other street, mostly terraces and flats at well under the area's typical price.

Ashgate Road is where bigger houses sell, and it shows. School Board Lane, Boythorpe Road and Old Hall Road are where many first-time buyers start.

Worth knowing

This guide follows the council's ward boundaries, so it includes Boythorpe and Loundsley Green. Our Chesterfield west guide covers Brampton and Walton together.

Parts of Brampton sit near the River Hipper and Holme Brook, which have Environment Agency flood warning areas. Check the long-term flood risk for any home in the lower streets.
