The north-west side of Chesterfield is mostly family homes, from inter-war semis to newer estates, with the woods and reservoirs at Linacre a short drive out. It's busy, good value and often overlooked.

The place

Newbold Road runs out from the town centre through the middle of it. Around it are Newbold, Brockwell, Dunston and the Holme Hall estate, each a little different.

Linacre, just outside town, has three reservoirs in woodland with paths all the way round. It's where a lot of people from this side of Chesterfield walk the dog.

The homes

Semis are the most common sale, with plenty of detached homes too. Terraces and flats are fewer than in Brampton or the centre.

Whinfell Road and Hawkshead Way are among the busiest streets for sales and sell well above the area's typical price. St Johns Road and Brushfield Road are among the more affordable.

Worth knowing

This guide follows three council wards, so it covers a big area with different prices in different parts. The bands below show the spread.

Outwood Academy Newbold is the local secondary, with St Mary's Catholic High School also on this side of town.
