Brimington sits on the ridge north-east of the town centre. It's close enough to be in Chesterfield in a few minutes, but it has its own high street, its own church and very much its own village feel.

The place

The parish church of St Michael and All Angels and the shops along the main road are the middle of the village. Brimington Common is the newer side to the south-east, and Ringwood Hall, now a hotel, sits on the Staveley side.

The Chesterfield Canal runs along the valley below, past Hollingwood, with a towpath that takes you into town one way and towards Staveley the other.

The homes

Mostly semis, with older terraces near the centre and newer estates on the edges. Manor Road sees more sales than anywhere else in the village. Poppleton Croft, Buzzard Close and Skylark Road are where the newer, bigger family homes sell.

At the other end, homes on Devonshire Street and Cornwall Drive have sold for under £100,000, some of the lowest prices in the borough.

Worth knowing

There's no secondary school in the village itself. Springwell Community College and Whittington Green School are the nearest. The River Rother runs along the valley floor, with Environment Agency flood warning areas at Tapton and Old Whittington, so check flood risk for homes on the lower side.
